We have arrived

Yesterday we arrived in Iceland.

We got the camper, bought a car seat and installed it. Front facing European car seats are interesting…. We drove out of Reykjavik to Hveragerdi did grocery shopping, had dinner, found a campsite, unpacked and organized and then went for ice cream. Sage fell asleep and missed the ice cream… Shhh… don’t tell her.

It took a while to get Sage to sleep in her tent, but once she did we all slept hard until 11 today.

Today we got going late, drove to Seljalandsfoss and met the Benners. There’s three waterfalls that you can wander around and behind and walk through a crack to gaze at. Sage loved the waterfalls, and walking around… and the pebbles.

Then we drove east to a short hike to a geothermal pool inside the mountain. It was beautiful. Very rustic. We swam, Sage loved it and then quickly fell asleep.

We walked back and then drove to the only restaurant we had passed. It was local and delicious. A great dinner.

Taking some chocolate cake to go, we drove to a campsite in Hvolsvöllur for the night. Night two of converting the campervan was easier than night one. We will be pros soon.

Tomorrow we take a ferry to the Westman Islands to explore.
