Reykjavík

We are back in Reykjavik to meet my parents at the airport tomorrow.

A view from Steve’s run this morning

We decided to get here a day early and explore a bit. When we’ve been here before we’ve seen some cool parks and playgrounds. We went to the Reykjavík Zoo and Park, which was mostly farm animals and a small amusement park.

Sage loved it. We looked at cows, horses, goats, sheep, reindeer, and some frogs.

Next to the zoo was an amusement park with a train a carousel and a really cool playground with a fun see saw, zip line, crane toys, in addition to a huge playground. It’s fun to have the time here to do these things with Sage.

From there we drove into Reykjavík and Sage took a nap while Steve and I took turns visiting FlyOver Iceland. It’s exactly like the Soarin’ ride at Epcot, where you are suspended in front of a screen moving as the screen does so it feels like you’re flying around and over amazing sights throughout Iceland. It was cool because I recognized many of them.

I’m also still giggling at the email they sent me advertising another show about lava.

When Sage woke up we went to Kaffevagninn, a fish and chips restaurant right on the harbor that Melissa had found back in July when they were here. The fish and chips was as good as we remembered. Sage was excited about the chips.

Full and happy, we drove to the campsite to do laundry and get to bed.

A nice easy going day.
