Last full day in Iceland
It’s hard to believe that our time here is almost over. It’s always seemed so far in the future and also so long. Crazy to think tomorrow will be 11 weeks here and also our flights home.
I’ve had a great time but also I’m excited to get back, to SDC, to visit my sister and family, to nationals in North Carolina and then eventually home. Having some comforts back will be nice. The two things I’m most looking forward to are a high chair for Sage and a good night’s sleep in a proper bed.
Anyway, today we drove east to Skógafoss. Steve didn’t go with me when I did this hike in June with Brian and Sheryl and he wanted to see more of it before going. The weather was good, and it was a nice way to spend our last day. We hiked about 1.5 hrs up, looking at waterfalls along the way. Sage said “Hi waterfall” and “bye waterfall” as we walked along.

We ate lunch while Sage foraged for blueberries and headed back down.

Once down we drove back into Reykjavík and had time to visit a large pool. It was nice and big with lots of hot tubs. The slide was a little too fast and dark for Sage, but she enjoyed watching Dad go on it.
Then we went back into Reykjavík for dinner at Messinn. We had discussed where we wanted to go for our last dinner before leaving. We could have done something new, but we kept coming back to the delicious fish at Messinn. They recognized us when we arrived.

Then we wandered around Reykjavík eventually getting crepes and ice cream, which Sage helped us eat.
