Jokulsargljufur and around
Last night we stayed in Ásbyrgi at a campground right in the canyon. It’s a beautiful spot, but pricey for the limited amount of services they have. Sage liked the playground.
Today we explored around the path and river that goes from Dettifoss to Ásbyrgi. It’s a beautiful spot with a long basalt canyon that you can walk along. We drove halfway between dettifoss and Ásbyrgi to Jokulsargljufur and hiked from there. We had been to this area last time we came and knew we wanted to spend more time. First we went north along the river.

Sage fell asleep and we headed back to the car for lunch.

I stayed in the car and napped while Steve and Sage walked south along the river and then back and had a phone call with Papi Bob. Sage asked about Abu and Bob all the time.

Then we drove back north, stopping for dinner on the way and then back to the campsite at Ásbyrgi. Tomorrow we will do more hiking and exploring around here before heading on.
