Iceland for the Summer!

Remember that time we willingly lived in a van in Iceland for 11 weeks with a 2 year old?

I am sure we will say this to each other sometime in the future and smile and laugh.

Right now I am grateful to be here, about to start this awesome and crazy adventure. Grateful to have Steve and Sage (for both I could fill an entire blog of back story). Grateful for everything and everyone that helped us to this moment.

We left home in Florida three weeks ago, spent two at SDC and one in New York. In Chicago, Steve worked, I made a skydive for the first time since my brain hemmhorhage, we hung out with friends and Sage had am amazing time. In New York, we celebrated Steve’s stepdad’s 80th, Sage’s birthday and visited family and friends. It was a fast and amazing three weeks, all leading into now.

We are going to Iceland from June 15-Aug 31. We are going to rent a campervan and travel around Iceland seeing the country, hiking, enjoying hot springs, waterfalls, glaciers, volcanos, and much more.

Iceland is awesome. This is our third trip. Both times we left saying “We have to come back!” There’s a ring road that goes around the entire island, that you can drive along, camp along and see many of the sights. The whole country feels like being in a national park. The land is something like 80% volcanic… Oh… And hot springs are somewhat of a national pasttime.

We have a rough plan. The first two weeks are more concrete. Our friends Brian and Sheryl and then Melissa, Jason and Jack will visit. From now until July 4th, we’ll be around Reykjavik and the south side of the island.

We’ll do many of the things we’ve already done before that made us want to come back, and some of the things we wanted to do but didnt have time for before.

After the 4th, our plan is a little more vague. A few weeks in the north west, a couple in the north, a couple in the north east. We don’t have anything planned until we have to be back on Reykjavik on Aug 22 when my parents arrive.

We will blog about it here, to keep a record of what we are doing, and to share with friends and family.
