Húsavík
We had a great day today in Husavik, the whale capital of Iceland. This morning we woke up and drove to a lake to work out. Steve ran first while I decided there were too many bugs so we drove to a lookout over the town and Sage napped while we worked out, talked to my parents and Steve made lunch.

From there we went to Geosea Thermal Baths, a large hot tub at the edge of a cliff on the outskirts of town. There are two hot pools, one slighty warmer than the other, both looking out over the bay, mountains and town. It was a great stop. Sage loved playing and pouring water from one cup to another.
Then we went back into town for our whale watching trip. The town was super busy. We learned that they are having a festival this weekend. The whole town is decorated in either pink, green or orange and there’s music and a carnival.

The whale watching trip was on a wooden boat called Nattfari. They gave us warm suits to put on and we set off across the bay. We saw a bunch of humpback whales swimming and eating around us.

Sage wasn’t interested, maybe because she was tired. She sat and watched her iPad and Steve and I took turns watching her while the other looked at whales.

On the way back they served hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls, a hit with everyone.
Back at the harbor we had fish of the day at a restaurant right at the end of the dock. Sage was almost falling asleep in the chair until we mentioned the carnival rides, when she perked up and threw both hands in the air yelling “yay!”

Sage used up the rest of our carnival tokens on rides and then we drove on to Myvatn. She was asleep by the time we got to the campsite and stayed asleep while I changed her and put her in bed. A fun day!
