Gorgeous clear day!

We woke up today to a day even better than the forecast suggested. It was clear and warm.

We both ran outside, which was beautiful.

An aside… There is a bird here called the Artic Tern. I read a description about this bird online that I believe is the best way to describe it. Which is:

“I didn’t know I had a least favorite bird until I experienced the Artic Tern.”

And that’s exactly how I feel too. This bird is really annoying. It is very territorial and it will decide it doesn’t like you and just start dive bombing your head. It will touch you. Even if you’re just walking or running along a sidewalk, or sitting near a pool, or even trying to get away, it will touch your head. Today one even touched my face. So yeah. Least favorite bird goes to the Artic Tern.

After the run we met at the pool for showers, hot tubs and so that Sage could play and swim. There’s a waterslide that has warm enough water in it, so Steve and I each will do a few rides on it with Sage before retreating back to the warmth of one of the pools.

From there we drove a few fjords south and through a one-lane tunnel – last time we had the right of way, this time we didn’t, driving a bit and ducking into the passing spots to let oncoming traffic pass. We visited the viking town of Pingeyri. First we hiked up the hill above Pingeyri and the fjords. It was about 2 hours roundtrip, beautiful and super clear.

Afterwards we drove down onto Pingeyri and visited the beach and an old viking site and then a quick call to Abu and Papi Bob.

Then back to Ísafjörður for dinner, a chat with Aunt Nicola, Nellie and Izzy and to bed.
