A beautiful Icelandic summer day!

Today was beautiful… Clear, sunny, highs in the mid-50s.    A bit windy in places, but not everywhere.

We woke up, Steve ran, we ate breakfast and stopped at the only supermarket on this end of the peninsula.

Then we drove into the Snaefellsnes national park and hiked the Raudholl loop.   It was gorgeous.   We walked up the road first, then up to the top of an old Crater, around the top and back down along a crack of rocks and then a river, with the obligatory waterfall too.

Sage didnt like the wind, but she did like when I put her mittens and hat on and requesting songs of dad.

After lunch we went to Dritivik Djúpalónssandur, which was a walk along some rocks and the beach and cliffs.  Sage loved all the rocks and played in the rocks and sand as Steve and I took turns exploring.  She filled her pockets and our shoes with sand and rocks.

As expected Sage fell asleep once we got her in the backpack and walked a bit.   She woke up briefly when we moved her to the car and cleaned out her pockets, but then was fast asleep again on the drive back around the peninsula to our campsite.

The campsite we are at doesn’t have a shower, but the pool is right next door, so we went there, got clean and warm in the hot tubs, kids pool, sauna and heated pool and then back next door to our campsite.   I put Sage to sleep and Steve made dinner outside as we remarked about how great the weather was.

Tomorrow we have two more things we want to see at the end of the peninsula, then we will head to the north, middle part.
