Myvatn day two
The weather today was as nice and even warmer than yesterday.

We woke up, worked out, showered and played with Sage, then went grocery shopping before we headed to Leirhnjukur for a hike.

The area is still an active volcanic area and was very active in the late 70s and early 80s, though it hasn’t erupted since 1984. The hike takes you along the lava field and by spots that are still steaming. As you walk past parts of the land still steaming you can feel the warmth coming from them. Sage pointed and said “Wow!”

From there we went to the Myvatn Nature Bath, a touristy but nice hot spring fed from the geothermal activity in the area. The water is light blue and silty like the blue lagoon in Reykjavik.

Sage loved it. She’s getting more confident in the water and wants us to let go of her. She now has opinions about having her picture taken. Sometimes she’s cooperative and says “cheese” or holds up two fingers. Other times she doesn’t want to be in the picture and turns her head away. We try the usual tricks, like telling her we see a sheep or Minnie Mouse. That sometimes works. She loved swimming and playing with the rocks and dirt. She even tried eating the dirt, which she didn’t like.

After the hot pool we went back to the campsite and sat outside at the pizza place on site. Sage was very excited about pizza, throwing her hands up and saying “yay!” She ate an entire 9″ pizza all herself and then asked for more pizza when she was done. She is definitely Steve’s daughter.
