Return from Porsmork and lazy days around the southwest
Yesterday was too rainy to hike around Porsmork again, so we took an earlier bus out.

We’ve had a lot of rain the last few days. However in retrospect, we’ve been here for two weeks and only had two days where we had to change our plans because of weather. And even then we found things to do.
Anyway, yesterday we got back on the bus out of Porsmork that forded the river multiple times. The river seemed to be more forceful than before, but the bus pushed on through. It was a beautiful and fun ride. Sage loved it and asked for more each time we crossed a river.

Back at the car we stopped to do laundry and grocery shopping and the headed to the south coast. I reorganized the camper storage and am becoming very happy with how everything fits now.
We stopped for dinner at a restaurant that touted world famous lobster bisque. It was delicious and had chunks of lobster in it. Sage had chicken nuggets and as much bisque as we would give up. I thought it was the best lobster bisque I had had, Steve thought it was good, but not clearly the best. We both felt that for the price, it wasn’t something we needed to try again.

We continued along the coast to the campsite in Porlakshofn and went to sleep. It was nice to be back in our camper bed, which is good since this is where we will sleep for the next 9 weeks.
This morning we woke up and went to the pool /gym right next to the campsite. It was a great facility. There was a large indoor kids pool that came up to Sage’s belly, and had slides and toys and water squirting. Steve and I took turns hanging out with Sage in the pool and working out at the gym upstairs. I like running km and in km/hr.
After working out and the pool we drove around and looked at the beaches and volcanoes and such while Sage slept. We were fine with this because it was still quite windy.
Steve jumped out briefly to run up and see the lava field from the most recent eruption here.

Since we were close we went to Reykjavik to do a few errands. We got new, and hopefully waterproof raincoats for Steve and I, some groceries and a sim card, so that I can make calls from my phone. We have been wanting a way to make local calls, and having a way to call home is good too, especially once our NC house is finished and rented again.
The campsite was 80 minutes from Reykjavik, we chatted and enjoyed the scenery on the way. Sage loves to see horses and sheep. She will request them if she hasn’t seen them recently.
Tomorrow we take the car on the ferry to vestmannaeyar islands. We have a few days there. We will meet up with Melissa and Jason and Jack on a stop on their cruise.
