Skógar and Vík
Today we woke up at a very busy Skogar campground. There are definitely a lot of tourists here, especially in the south of Iceland.

Once we were ready, we went to explore the waterfall, and then climbed up the tall staircase to the top. From there we continued up the path a bit looking at the stream and waterfalls. It was a beautiful day again and the waterfalls were gorgeous.

Then we walked down and drove to Reynisfjara beach and walked along the beach looking at the basalt columns, caves and birds. Sage loved playing in the black sand.

From there we did a quick shop in town for lunch food and a hat for mom and went to the beach to have a delicious lunch on the picnic table at the beach.

This is where Steve ate Sage’s bread which she told us all about for the rest of the day. In his defense, he did ask her after she clearly wasn’t eating it.
After lunch we went to the Vík pool to get clean and soak in the hot tub. Sage and Steve went down the waterslide.
From Vík, we drove almost two hours east along the coast. On the drive you can see the countryside, the mountains and the water. In the distance the large Vatnajokull glacier is visible. It’s cool to drive closer and closer.

We stopped to camp at Skaftafell campsite in the Vatnajokull National Park. The weather was still beautiful. Sage had a great time playing and ran around with Grandma while Steve made a delicious dinner of salad, pork chops and couscous.
Another fun day! Tomorrow the forecast is for rain…. We’ll see.
